Power a lock with the PPD

If a lock has dead batteries, you may be able to temporarily power it with the PPD. You will need the three-pronged PPD Connector Cable.

1. Make sure the PPD has fresh batteries. The PPD displays its battery status in the upper right corner of the screen.
2. Use the three-pronged PPD Connector Cable to connect the PPD to the lock. Make sure the word "UP" on the cable is oriented up.
3. Turn the PPD on. Wait a few seconds for the lock to receive power.
4. Open the lock by using a credential, or by starting the PPD's Emergency Opening function and holding the PPD to the lock's reader.
5. Immediately replace the lock's batteries with the recommended battery type for your lock.

Important Note: The PPD does not communicate with the lock over the PPD cable. The current generation of Salto PPDs and locks communicate wirelessly.
